Chartered Trust was established in 1980 by its founding principal and now Managing Director, Peter Savory following his employment as local manager of the TCI office of a major audit and accounting firm.

Conceived as a non-institutional, independent boutique for selected clients, from its original base in Grand Turk the Company focused on the provision of high-quality corporate and related services to a clientèle of international banks and professional intermediaries - expanding in the late 1980s into the management of capital and real property for the increasing number of private individuals and families who were by then taking up full or part-time residence within the Islands.

Having also accepted a number of trusteeships during this initial decade, and with the early stages of development of a luxury tourism-based economy already becoming evident on that island, the decision was taken in 1989 to open a new private client-focused office in Providenciales - since when the scope of services on offer has expanded into TCI real estate and immigration consultancy.

A more formal group structure was established in 2009 with the transfer of the Company’s day-to-day corporate management function to an in-house subsidiary, CT Management - with the most recent phase of the Group’s continuing evolution coming in early 2012 following the establishment of Chartered Trust (New Zealand) Limited in Auckland, New Zealand.
